Full Circle

Each time I’m asked how I got started as a freelance writer, my story always includes a mention of Marlene Williamson, and I swear, I bow my head every time I say her name. She’s the one who interviewed me for a contracting position in the Apple PR department a few years ago, a-hem. And thanks to her decision that I’d be A-OK for Apple, I was able to build quite a nice gig for the first half of my career.

And now that I’m moving into the second half, guess who’s prompting a second bow?

Yep. Marlene. After her own stellar career as a marketing exec for Apple, Hitachi, Ericsson, Symantec, IBM and others, Marlene is now CEO of Watermark, the the world’s largest organization of women executives, entrepreneurs and leaders – and those well on their way. The group’s mission: to expand the number of women in leadership positions yet further. And further. And further still.

And she recently invited me to join her team as marketing director to help make that happen.

I’m absolutely thrilled. Here we all are:

I’m still doing my usual consulting gigs, Lightscoop and iList. You know what they say: If you want something done, give it to a busy person.

That would be me.

Many thanks to Marlene and the Watermark team. I’m excited and completely re-energized to hop on board.
